The woman told prosecutors that she was driving at 120kmph

Tailgating is rampant on the UAE roads but it hasn't turned so ugly never before. An Arab motorist not only chased a woman driver, but also threw knife towards her after overtaking her car on a road in Al Dhafra area.

The motorist, who was convicted of trying to throw a knife at a young Arab woman after tailgating her, however, has appealed against the charges and fine handed down to him.

Official court documents stated that the Arab man tailgated and chased the woman on one of the roads in Al Dhafra area. After overtaking the woman's car, he threw a kitchen knife towards her. Fortunately, it missed her and landed on the car's front seat.

The woman told prosecutors that she was driving at 120kmph when the man started tailgating her.

"He later overtook my car and I was surprised to see him throwing a knife at me," said the woman. "The knife fell on the car seat and pierced it."

The woman, who apparently didn't know why the driver tried to attack her, was able to record the car's number plate and reported the man to the police.

The police investigated the matter and arrested the Arab motorist. Prosecutors charged the Arab driver with tailgating the woman, threatening and attempting to attack her with a knife.

The Criminal Court of First Instance in Al Dhafra fined him Dh10,000 after he was found guilty of the charges. The motorist, however, challenged the ruling denying the charges and saying that he was wrongly convicted.

The man told the court that he didn't do anything wrong to the woman. His lawyer argued that it wasn't possible for someone at the wheel to throw a knife at another driver considering the fact that the alleged victim was driving at a high speed. He demanded that his client be cleared of the charges.
