A coal mine in southwest China\'s Guizhou province was flooded, trapping 12 miners, authorities said. Local authorities blamed the owner of the mine in a hilly area for the incident Sunday, the China Daily reported, but gave no details. Rescue operations were under way Monday to reach the trapped miners at the Fuhong Coal Mine near the provincial capital of Guiyang city, a city work safety official said. The operations included pumping water out of the mine to bring it down to a level to permit rescuers to enter the facility. The trapped miners were among 58 working in the mine shaft, and the others managed to escape, the report said. The cause of the flooding was being investigated.
