Dar Al Ber Society have managed to secure a supply of life-saving medicines valued at AED1,750,000, for 40 expatriate patients suffering with chronic hepatitis and cancer across the country.
The funds were raised as part of the ‘Thank you Zayed Giving’ campaign, in collaboration with Axios International, a healthcare consulting company.
The organisation's Chairman, Khalfan Khalifa Al Mazrouie, said that the funds will help secure critical medicines and reduce the financial burden of vulnerable patients who might not be able to afford the costs. "Life-saving hepatitis treatments can set patients back up to AED90,000 in monthly costs," he said.
Al Mazrouie explained that the ‘Thank you Zayed Giving’ campaign hopes to raise AED10 million to secure medicines for four chronic diseases - cancer, hepatitis, kidney failure and diabetes.
The campaign benefits low-income expatiates as Emirati patients already receive free healthcare treatment at public hospitals.
