A young driver has been arrested for performing dangerous road stunts with his pick-up vehicle that didn't have number plates.
The Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate said they caught the Arab man -- who was driving recklessly -- after his vehicle crashed into a ditch in Baniyas area.
Police said two passengers, who were in the pick-up vehicle with the motorist, were also detained.
According to police, the motorist, by driving recklessly, was putting the life of other road-users as well as his own in danger.
Lt. Colonel Abdullah Al Suwaidi, deputy director of Abu Dhabi's Traffic and Patrols Directorate, said that the driver and the two persons, who were accompanying him, have been arrested and the vehicle seized.
"Such behaviour is unacceptable. Legal action will be taken against those caught violating the law," said the officer.
Police said they have deployed several patrols and placed cameras on various roads across the emirate to nab errant and reckless drivers.
According to Article No. 178 of 2017, a motorist caught driving recklessly is fined Dh2,000, given 23 black points and his vehicle confiscated for a period of two months.
Meanwhile, police have urged parents to strictly monitor their children's activities and not allow them to drive their vehicles dangerously on the roads.
