A tragic accident was avoided recently after a truck jumped a traffic light when it was yellow and the driver lost control of the vehicle.

A video shared by Sharjah Police on Twitter shows a traffic signal displaying the yellow light at an intersection, and vehicles gradually coming to a halt, when suddenly a trailer truck carrying a large container veers into the picture.

The driver of the truck swerves into the left lane from the right, and having lost control of the vehicle, runs into the grassy patch on the left of the road, hitting the traffic signal. It comes to a stop right in the middle of the intersection.

Thankfully, it does not hit any other vehicle.

The video ends with the message: Dear drivers! A yellow light doesn't necessarily mean 'hurry'.
