Parents of a teen girl who died while using her mobile phone while in the bath are warning against the use of the device in the shower.
In a Facebook post, shared by Angela O'Guinn Downs, she is encouraging parents to protect and educate their children from the fatal dangers of electrocution.
According to the Telegraph, 14-year-old Madison Coe from Lubbock, Texas was electrocuted by her charging phone when the device fell into the bathtub. She was in her father's house when the incident occurred. Her family said that it's not yet clear whether she plugged the phone or she grabbed the phone while it was in the process of charging.
In an interview conducted with Coe's grandmother - Donna O'Guinn said that: "There was a burn mark on her hand, the hand that would have grabbed the phone." She also advised against using mobile phones in the bathroom, where the risks of being electrocuted is extremely high.
"This is such a tragedy that doesn't need to happen to anyone else. And we want something good to come out of this . awareness about not using your cellphone in the bathroom when it is plugged in and charging."
The KCBD interview also adds:
"We need to be aware. We need to teach our children that electricity and water do not mix, she's just going to be greatly missed by all of us. She has a special place in my heart."
