Relatives of those killed in the crash of an An-24 airliner in Siberia on Monday will receive 1 million rubles ($35,500) in compensation per family, the local authorities said on Tuesday. Those seriously injured will get 300,000 rubles (about $10,600) each. Six people were killed and more than 20 injured when the Antonov An-24 plane ditched in the Ob River at the border between the Khanty-Mansiisk autonomous area and the Tomsk region early on Monday. Eighteen people remain in hospital following the crash, which occurred several minutes after the crew reported a fire in the aircraft\'s port engine. Those who suffered moderate and light injuries in the crash will receive 100,000 rubles (about $3,500) and 50,000 rubles (some $1,770) respectively. Monday\'s accident prompted Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to instruct the government to consider the early retirement of all An-24s, the last of which was produced in 1979.
