His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Vice Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club High Committee, attended the 26th edition of the Bahrain Trophy Race today at the Newmarket July Festival in the United Kingdom.
The Bahrain Trophy is one of the world’s most iconic horse races at the Thoroughbred level. It takes place at the July Festival at Newmarket Races, a highly popular three-day event that starts with Britain’s oldest horse race, run since 1666.
The winner of this year’s Bahrain Trophy Race was Raheen House, ridden by Jamie Spencer. In presenting the award, His Highness said that winning races at this level marks a horse as having exceptional ability, and is an important factor in determining stud values. He also spoke of the thrilling atmosphere at the prestigious event steeped in royal equestrian history.
HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa is highly involved in the administration of the Royal Arabian Stables, and supports Bahrain’s leading role in the preservation of the Bahraini Arabian horse. Bahrain’s breeding program has ensured the preservation of many high-quality desert-bred horse pedigrees.
Bahrain continues to garner international recognition as a key supporter of equestrian culture, and the Kingdom is the preferred destination for equestrian activities in the region. HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al-Khalifa was accompanied by His Highness Shaikh Sultan Al Din bin Mohammed bin Salman Al-Khalifa, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa and they attended a lunch ahead of the race organised by the Jockey Club as part of the festivities.
