The traffic patrols issued fines for 14,320 various traffic violations.

One died, and nine injured in the 16 serious accidents that were reported during the Eid Al Fitr holidays in Dubai.

Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director-general of traffic department at Dubai Police, said that despite the efforts made by the traffic department to secure the roads using deployment plans in commercial centres, entertainment and markets, accidents still occurred. The accidents resulted in the death of one person and injured nine people between minor and moderate.

He explained that over-speeding and lack of attention were the cause of most traffic accidents. He added that the traffic police seized 47 vehicles and motorcycles during the holidays, as its reckless drivers posed committed serious violations and were threats to the lives of others as well as themselves. "This included 28 vehicles and 19 motorbikes," said Brig Mazrouei.

The traffic patrols also issued fines for 14,320 various traffic violations during Eid Al Fitr - 12,928 violations in Bur Dubai and 1392 violations in Deira area.
