An Emirati girl, aged 8, succumbed to fatal injuries she received after the car she was travelling in collided with two other cars here in Al Dhait area in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
The victim's seven-year-old sister, who was travelling in the same car, driven by their 32-year-old mother, also received several injuries in the three-car collision, according to a senior police officer.
The central operations room of the RAK Police, after being alerted of the collision, dispatched traffic police, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the site in a record time.
Brigadier Hassan Ibrahim Ali, deputy director general of the central operations department of the RAK police, on Monday said initial enactment of the accident showed that the mother was driving her car properly.
"Another car driven by a 33-year-old Emirati woman, who is blamed for the tragic mishap, entered the main road from a side street without checking if it was clear," he further shared.
The mother tried to avoid collision with the inattentive driver who entered from a side street, but in vain.
"The mother veered off the road after the collision and accidently moved to another lane where she collided with another car driven by an Asian in his thirties."
Unfortunately, the mother's two girls, seven and eight, were travelling in the same car during the collision. "The eight-year-old daughter could not make it and died on the spot while the seven-year-old daughter sustained serious injuries."
The mother, second driver, and driver of the third car were also injured, he explained. They have all been shifted to the nearest hospital for treatment and medical care.
Brig Ali said the accident file has been referred to the traffic prosecution for legal action. "All drivers are urged to be careful and attentive on the road, and avoid speeding and reckless driving for road users' safety and theirs."
So many terrible accidents have been reported for the same reason, he underlined. "Failing to check if the road was clear is mostly deadly and many people were killed for the same."
Just few days back, a 26-year-old Emirati young man succumbed to fatal injuries he received after the car he was driving collided with another car in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah for the same reason, he pointed out.
"Also, a 47-year-old Filipina was also killed in another severe road collision few days back for the same failure to check if the road was clear before entering it."
