Arsene Wenger Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis insists Arsenal have no intention of sacking under-fire boss Arsene Wenger. The Gunners have won just one of their five opening Premier League games and are currently a lowly
17th in the table, just one point above the drop zone.
Wenger lost Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri during the summer and was widely criticised for not spending more of the cash the club received from Barcelona and Manchester City for the influential midfielders.
But Gazidis has given the Frenchman a much-needed vote of confidence.
He said: "Wenger is not broken. He did not suddenly become a bad manager or somebody who became out of touch with the game. It is complete nonsense.
"Sacking him is a route we are not going to go down."
Gazidis admits six trophyless years have left everyone connected with the club on edge.
The poor start to the season has intensified the pressure on Wenger's shoulders but the Gunners faithful have been urged to get behind the manager.
Gazidis added: "Wenger is frustrated, he shares the same frustrations that we all do.
"The potential is very high but we have found self-inflicted ways not to achieve that full potential and that is why he is deeply frustrated.
"If you look at the last six years when we haven't quite got over the line for a trophy, that is something we need to correct because the potential is there.
"That is the frustration I think Wenger is wrestling with but he is absolutely not broken.
"He is as focused on delivering success to this football club as he has ever been."
