Three men, who were assigned by a Dubai-based company to load an ATM machine with Dh2 million, fled with the cash, Khaleej Times has learnt.
The have launched a probe and searching for the three Sri Lankan men who were working with the company, which provides cash management service to banks, financial institutions, major retailers and corporate and VIP customers.
An official of the company told Khaleej Times that the employees were asked on Saturday to transport the cash as usual but they did not show up at the office.
He claimed that the employees escaped with the money. Since he could not figure out their whereabouts, he lodged a complaint at Naif Police Station.
The police have often warned companies in Dubai to take preventive measures such as installing cameras inside the vans to monitor the employees' movements and keep a track of employees who they appoint to carry money.
