Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said his party will not change its economic policies, local media reported on Monday.
Rajoy made the remarks during an interview with Spanish state radio network RNE on Monday morning.
"The worst thing that can happen to us is for us to change our economic policy," said Rajoy.
Rajoy's interview coincided with the publication of the unemployment figures for Spain in March, which showed the number of people out of work had fallen by 60,214 to 4,451,359. The figures also revealed a rise in consumer confidence.
During the interview, Rajoy also said he was not worried by the rise of the center-right formation 'Citizens' (Ciudadanos), whose eruption was one factor in the disastrous performance of Rajoy's Popular Party (PP) in the recent elections for the Andalusian Regonal Parliament.
