Women drivers might be exempted from being questioned by stopping their cars

After allowing women to drive in September 2017, followinga royal decree issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia is looking at exempting women from some traffic violation penalties.

Al Arabiya reported that some of the penalties are not suitable for women.

Some of the exemptions would include stopping the vehicle to question the driver of a vehicle or detaining the vehicle, the story further states.

A press conference will be held next week providing more clarity on the new sanctions and the date from when women can start learning to drive in different parts of the country.
