US appreciates partnership with Egypt

US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights, Sarah B. Sewall said the United States appreciates its long-standing partnership with Egypt.

In a statement released by the US embassy in Cairo, Sewall, who is currently visiting Egypt, said she is looking forward to getting better acquainted with the challenges facing Egypt and the progress achieved in facing them.

During her four-day visit, Sewall is expected to meet with a number of government officials and religious and civil society leaders for talks on cooperation with Egypt in facing terror and extremism and guaranteeing rights and freedoms of people.

Sewall is a longtime advocate for advancing civilian security and human rights around the world. She serves concurrently as the Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues. Over the previous decade, she taught at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where she served as Director of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy and directed the Program on National Security and Human Rights.
