Geneva - Arab Today
UN envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura stressed he will not hold any date for the coming round of talks between the Syrian government and opposition after the rate of violence hit unprecedented level over the past 48 hours in the war-torn country.
The coming round was scheduled to take place in May.
At a press conference, the UN envoy said in the past 48 hours there had been an average of one Syrian civilian killed every 25 minutes and one wounded every 13 minutes.
Truce is in big danger, he said, calling for an urgent meeting of the international group for Syria support to save the truce before falling apart.
He said the ceasefire brokered by the US and Russia needs to be "revitalized" before peace talks resume next month.
