The UAE Parliamentary Division of the Federal National Council, FNC, has called for developing clear sustainable development plans and strategies and take into account the stages that countries are passing through in setting development priorities.
During its participation at the Parliamentary Forum on Sustainable Development, in Bali, Indonesia, Jamal Mohammed Al Hai, FNC member, stressed the importance of carrying out studies and scientific researches that seek to discuss the real problems of development failure in its simple form, and the means by which they can ensure development.
He emphasised the need to activate laws on economic facilities and address the threats related to climate and natural disasters in all countries, as well as the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, taking into account both the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement.
The division reviewed the parliamentary role in promoting the goals of sustainable development and the achievements of the UAE in the field of sustainable development. It noted that the UAE is committed to ensuring the continuity of sustainable development, and seeks to protect the environment and achieve balance between economic and social development.
The Parliamentary Division indicated that the national agenda for the vision of the UAE 2021 includes achieving a sustainable environment in terms of air quality, conservation of water resources, increasing reliance on clean energy, and the application of green development
