An artillery shell fired from the Syrian side of the northern border crashed into a Lebanese villae killing a resident, police said on Sunday. Ahmad Shehab lost his life when the shell hit the village of Al-Hisha in the northernmost region of Akkar. Another shell slammed into a house in the same village, inflicting damage. The incident coincided with fierce clashes between Syrian government troops and opposition forces in areas close to the Syrian-Lebanese border. Lebanese regions close to the Syrian border often witness such incidents. A number of people has died or suffered injuries due to shells or rockets fired from the Syrian side of the frontier regions.
