The General Secretariat of the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai, SLC, has hosted a workshop entitled ‘The Legislative Laboratory’ attended by representatives from the Dubai Government. The event was in line with the General Secretariat’s efforts to enhance government integration and support the development of a consolidated legislative system according to the emirate’s sustainable development policies.
The workshop was held under the supervision of Omar Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Acting Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the SLC’s Strategy and Organisational Excellence Office, along with General Secretariat officials. During the event, the attendees discussed challenges and opportunities in a wide range of topics such as legislation, legislative audit, and legal opinion and advice.
Ahmed bin Meshar, SLC Secretary General, said that the workshop served as an ideal platform to develop new visions in light of the prevailing challenges and emerging opportunities. "It was organised in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to make the government an ‘authority to serve people rather than an authority governing them'," he added.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the SLC General Secretariat to enhance the SLC’s collaborative work with Dubai government entities to develop Dubai legislative processes and build a pioneering legislative body.
"We look forward to implementing the proposals and recommendations put forward by the attendees. We aim to transform their ideas into effective measures that will improve the quality and efficiency of legislation and establish a legal system that is in line with the aspirations of our wise leadership to catapult Dubai into the ranks of the world's most advanced nations by 2021," Bin Meshar concluded.
