Sis urges further efforts to provide goods at affordable prices

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted on Sunday the necessity to continue efforts to provide foodstuffs at affordable prices in markets.

He ordered the supply ministry and other bodies concerned to go ahead with their measures to control prices and ensure high quality of commodities offered in markets and sale outlets.

The president was speaking during a meeting with Supply and Internal Trade Minister Khaled Hanafi.

He was briefed on efforts taken by the supply ministry to provide basic commodities for citizens through the system of subsidized goods and outlets of the ministry, said presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef.

The minister said some violations were found by the ministry and supply investigation authorities.

Hanafi reviewed also the results of the season of collecting wheat from local farmers this year. He said that measures have been taken by the ministry to control the system of receiving wheat. He added that those who were found in breach of law in this regard have been referred to the prosecution.

The collected quantities of wheat this year are 150 percent higher than previous years.

The president asserted in this regard the importance of intensifying efforts to control the system of collecting wheat from farmers and to spot any possible violations, said the spokesman.
