SHARJAH - Emirates Voice
Co-founder of Dar Al Khaleej Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam, whose sudden demise last month left the Arab media world in deep grief, was fondly remembered at the International Government Communication Forum 2014 (IGCF 2014), which began in Sharjah on Sunday.
Before inaugurating the IGCF 2014, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi stopped by the memorial wall dedicated to the late Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam and recorded his tribute to the visionary media personality in the condolence book placed there.
“To the spirit of a good friend and companion since childhood and until the end of days, me and all your loved ones pray for your forgiveness and ask God’s blessing upon your children, who are as dear as you were to us,” wrote the Ruler of Sharjah.
Later, addressing the gathering, Chairman of Sharjah Media Centre, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qassimi said the Forum feels the absence of Dr Abdullah Taryam, a leading media personality who always used his pen as a weapon against injustice. His voice was among the first to be heard for the poor and downtrodden.
“Today, we are missing an important person, Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam, who established the first printing press in the UAE and was the first voice that called for change. In my last meeting, he said he was glad that Sharjah was moving in the right direction,” Sheikh Sultan added.
