Sharjah International Airport distributed thousands of Iftar meals to fasting passengers and travellers. The airport has been doing this on a daily basis during the holy month.
The campaign is in line with the initiative "Your Iftar Is On Us!", which aims to embrace the values of the Holy Month. The initiative is part of the activities organised by the airport during the Year of Giving which highlights values of giving. A value that is deeply ingrained within UAE culture, particularly during Ramadan.
Sharjah International Airport is the main entry point to the emirate, and a place where a first impression is made by visitors the kind of hospitality they can expect during their stay.
His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority, said: 'Our passengers' comfort is always a priority for us and special attention is given to people that are fasting during Ramadan. Daily Iftar meals are distributed in line with our deeply-rooted Emirati traditions and in line with the teachings of Islam.'
He added: 'The initiative is part of our strategy and social role in creating a good impression for travellers about the meaning of Ramadan'.
Providing food to those that are fasting is one of the annual initiatives carried out by the airport during Ramadan. Airport employees distributed Iftar meals to departing passengers, and welcomed arriving passengers with Arabic coffee, dates and water. The Airport Terminal Building was also decorated with a Ramadan motif.
