Five marine anchors have been installed at “Najwat Boulthama”, a maritime zone rich in coral reefs, algae and natural sea sponges inside Bahrain’s territorial waters.
Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Daina stressed the crucial importance of the natural reserve in maintaining the marine eco-system.
He called upon seafarers visiting the natural reserve to tie their boats to the newly-installed marine anchors and help protect the marine environment and conserve the wildlife.
He cited the edict 2 of 2017, which was issued by His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative and SCE President His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, declaring the zone of “Najwat Boulthama” a natural reserve.
