The Representatives Council held today its third extraordinary meeting in the third session of the fourth legislative term under the chairmanship of its Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Malla. It discussed the report of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee on a draft law to issue the Family Law.

The council approved unanimously the draft law and the amendments introduced to it and decided to refer it urgently to the Shura Council. It also reviewed a letter by His Royal Highness the Prime Minister regarding a draft law following a proposal by the Representatives Council to amend article 34 of the Procedures Law of Sharia Courts which was issued in decree-law 26 of 1986. It decided to refer the draft law to the relevant committee
