THE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti affirmed that the State of Qatar has overcome the impacts of the siege, and the Ministry plans to build an integrated transport system that is fully and self-reliant on the State of Qatar and its neighboring countries, which have bilateral agreements with.
The transport and communications sector has significant contributions in the State of Qatar, whether in air, land or sea transportation, and what the Ministry has achieved in cooperation with other ministries to open the maritime and air routes represent a positive step and a quick response to the requirements of the stage, HE Al Sulaiti said in a press statement on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between Qatar Foundation for Social Work and the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the inauguration of the call center and hotline of the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman).
HE the Minister added that Qatar Airways has targeted major ports in Oman, India, China, Pakistan and other major destinations. Tt has adopted the latest technology systems and managed to connect Hamad port with 57 international ports in the region and beyond. Qatar Airways is still expanding at a steady pace and the second batch of the metro vehicles had arrived in Doha, while the third is on the way.
HE Al Sulaiti added that the actual experiences of the metro stations have entered into force and that this month will see the opening of a metro station and a train to be seen by the public. A center will be opened to introduce children to public transport and its importance in the community. (QNA)
