The measures are meant to assuage the suffering of the low-income strata and quash attempts to cause public turmoil.

During a meeting on Monday with Salah, Chairman of the Port Said chamber of commerce Mohamed el Masry, urged people to stop storing commodities and delay purchasing unnecessary and durable goods for three months to contribute to stabilizing currency market.
