Cairo - Arab Today
Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese said on Tuesday that hard line and extremist thought should be confronted by enlightened thinking.
In his speech at a conference on freedom and citizenship, that is organized in Cairo by Al Azhar and the Council of Muslim Elders, he added that extremism is one of the most important challenges facing the principle of co-existence.
He added that Egypt and the region at large are still suffering from terrorism and extremism due to wrong understanding of religion.
One of the most important reasons for extremism is lack of information about the "other", he added.
