The Bureau of the Council of Representatives today approved the formation of a committee to follow up on the implementation of the council’s proposals which have been endorsed by the government.
The Bureau also decided to present the list of nominees for the Council of Representatives’ standing committees for the fourth session of the Fourth Legislative Term during the next regular weekly meeting, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla said.
The Speaker expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the chairpersons of the parliamentary committees during the third session of the Fourth Legislative Term, wishing the new heads of committees every success in accelerating parliamentary work.
Al-Mulla was speaking while chairing today the Council of Representatives’ Bureau, with participation of First Deputy Speaker, Ali Al-Aradi, Second Deputy Speaker, MP Abdulhalim Murad, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee, MP Abdulla bin Huwail, Chairman of the Services Committee, MP Abbas Al-Madhi, and Chairman of the Public Utilities and Environment, MP Adel Al-Assoomi.
The Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives, Abdulla bin Khalaf Al-Dussary, and Chairman of the Legal Advisory Board of the council, Saleh Al-Guthaith, also attended.
The council’s Bureau reviewed the correspondence received from the Shura and Parliament Affairs Minister regarding the proposal on reducing the duration of the ban on shrimping in Bahrain’s territorial waters to four months, toughening penalties against violators of the shrimping ban, as well as on increasing the size of Bahrain’s diplomatic missions abroad.
The bureau decided to include the minister’s correspondence during the next regular meeting.
