Millions of Palestinians on Tuesday will join rallies and activities in the West Bank and abroad to commemorate the eve of Nakba day, an organizing committee said. The higher committee for commemorating Nakba Day, along with the Higher National Committee for defending the Right of Return, said that a program of events will take place throughout the day in the West Bank. Rallies will take place in Jerusalem, Ramallah, Birzeit, Hebron, Qalqiliya, Tubas, Bethlehem, Jenin, Nablus and Tulkarem. Talks, films, art shows, and theater performances commemorating the Nakba will take place across the West Bank, and scout groups will perform in several cities. Activities also include planting trees and naming them after displaced Palestinian villages. On May 15, Palestinians commemorate the Nakba, or catastrophe, of Israel's founding in 1948, when over 700,000 Palestinians were expelled from or fled their homes.
