Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama al Nujaifi said Iraq had a plan for solution to Syria crisis. Speaking to journalists after meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani, Nujaifi said, they shared their plan with all regional powers, primarily Turkey, which included securing a ceasefire, withdrawal of foreign actors from the country, determining the dates for elections. Singling out the political option as the only solution, Nujaifi said, \"We believe that the West favors military operation just to dismantle the chemical weapons, not for saving lives.\" Larijani also said he agreed with Nujaifi about dangers of a military attack that would \"fan the flames in the Middle East\", and added that Iraqi plan needed to be elaborated more comprehensively.
