The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs held its annual meeting with the coordinators of ministries and federal institutions to achieve the ministry’s strategic goal of enhancing communication between the government and the Federal National Council, FNC, and enhance coordination between legislative and executive authorities.
The meeting was attended by Tariq Hilal Lootah, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of State for FNC Affairs, Dr. Saeed Al Ghafli, Assistant Under-Secretary for FNC Affairs, and Ayesha Al Zaabi, Director of Coordination and Follow-up Department.
Tariq Lootah praised the efforts being made to improve the relationship between the legislative and executive authority and the ministry’s commitment to implement the political empowerment programme launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aimed at ensuring an effective council that is involved with the concerns of citizens.
Mr. Lootah said, "Our partnership resulted in creating ideal and effective channels of coordination between the government and the National Federal Council, and in setting a parliamentary system that is today a role model led by our traditions and culture, underlining the path of excellence in line with the vision of our leadership.
He added, "The UAE is steadily heading towards shaping the future, and we must gather our efforts with more creativity and innovation to create more effective channels that fulfil the vision of the leadership in consolidating the council as a platform to express the aspirations of the citizens."
The meeting included an interactive session to discuss ideas and proposals as well as the mechanism to handling the topics and issues assigned to the FNC. It also discussed ways to organise the presence of government representatives in FNC meetings, and about strengthening coordination between the government and the council. It also reviewed a range of initiatives introduced by the ministry on the services provided by federal authorities in line with the ministry’s efforts to achieve its strategic goals.
