Abu Dhabi - Emirates Voice
Ambassador Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Musallem Salem bin Ham Al-Ameri, IIMSAM Deputy Secretary-General and Permanent Observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, has praised the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to rename the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Mosque in the Al Mushrif area to Mariam Umm Eisa Mosque, which translates from Arabic as "Mary, Mother of Jesus".
He said that the initiative exemplifies the principles of the values of co-existence among religions in the UAE.
He emphasised that the UAE’s wise leadership, since the foundation of the country by the founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, was keen to give its attention to tolerance and achieving interfaith co-existence, based on justice and brotherhood for everyone living in the UAE. He added that this is being continued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as the country accommodates over 200 nationalities, who live in security, tranquility and peace.
