The government of Lebanon has resumed eradication of marijuana fields in the eastern part of the country, officials said. Internal security forces along with the Lebanese Army are destroying cannabis plantations without incident, The (Beirut) Daily Star reported Tuesday. The government said for the first time since 1992 nearly all of the country\'s marijuana crop will be eliminated. Farmers have been promised compensation for their loss. Last month, the Lebanese government halted marijuana after farmers blocked roads and fired at security forces.
