Geneva - KUNA
The State of Kuwait underlined here on Tuesday the necessity of respecting the Palestinian people\'s self-determination right, resolving the problem of Palestinian refugees and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 border with Jerusalem as its capital. Addressing the 24th session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Counselor with Kuwait\'s permanent delegation at the UN Saud Al-Saidi reiterated his country\'s full support for the UN secretary-general\'s report on progress in the implementation of the UNHRC\'s resolution 22/28 on human rights in occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. He cautioned against the inhuman situation in the West Bank, growing Jewish settlement and the increasing number of Palestinian prisoners, including 236 children and other Israeli violations of international human law. Al-Saidi also reaffirmed Kuwait\'s condemnation of Israel\'s repeated violations of Palestinian human rights. Meanwhile, First Secretary of Kuwait\'s permanent delegation at the UN in Geneva Abdullah Al-Jerewi hailed Djibouti\'s acceptance of recommendations in a UN review report regarding necessary efforts for providing basic education, equal opportunities and approving UN human rights conventions. Commenting on the UN review report on Djibouti, the Kuwaiti diplomat said: \"Kuwait appreciates Djibouti\'s genuine efforts to observe and safeguard human rights.\"
