The Arab Health Ministers Council held a meeting in Cairo on Thursday with the participation of a Jordanian delegation led by the Kingdom’s ambassador to Egypt and its permanent representative to the Arab League Bishr KhasawnehKhawasneh highlighted the agenda of the meeting, mainly health conditions of Syrian refugees in Syria’s neighboring countries, noting that Jordan is hosting 450,000 Syrian refugees.Jordan is providing every possible assistance to the refugees including health and medical services despite its limited resources, he said, noting that this places pressure on the Kingdom’s health sector.The ambassador urged Arab and friendly countries to assist the Kingdom to help it address the plight of the refugees until their return to Syria.Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al Araby also urged the Arab Health Ministers’ Council to support host countries of the refugees to meet their health and humanitarian needs.The council also discussed heath conditions in Palestine and urged Arab countries to provide financial and technical support to the Palestinian health sector in Gaza.
