Jordan is preparing a military field hospital to be dispatched to Egypt, upon the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, the military said Thursday. In response to the King’s orders, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben directed the Royal Medical Services Directorate and the Jordan Armed Forces Central Command to dispatch the makeshift hospital to “provide healthcare services to the Egyptian people to ease the pressure on the Egyptian medical sector”, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. Already, the first group of the hospital’s cadre arrived in Cairo Thursday on board an air force aircraft. The hospital is scheduled to be officially opened next week, according to Petra. In the past few years, Jordan dispatched several military field hospitals to various areas in need, including Afghanistan, Gaza and West Bank, among other crisis zones, to assist in providing healthcare and treatment to local residents.
