French Ambassador to Jordan, David Bertolotti, Wednesday, underlined the importance of talks held by His Majesty King Abdullah II with French President, Emmanuel Macron, at the Elysee Palace last month.
He told Petra on the occasion of his country’s National Day that King Abdullah was the first Arab leader to meet President Macron, noting that the president spoke with King Abdullah about the strong relations between the two countries.
The envoy said that France is the first non-Arab investor in Jordan with a volume of investment that amounts to around Euro 1.5 billion, noting that French companies in Jordan and Jordanian companies in France employ more than 6300 Jordanian employees.
Bertolotti said Jordan is an important destination for medical tourism and that France could provide expertise to Jordan in this domain, calling on Jordanian firms to take advantage of a deal between Jordan and the EU on simplifying the rules of origin to goods export to France.
The ambassador also said that Jordan and France were both part of the international coalition against Daesh, expressing appreciation for Jordan’s role in the fight against terrorism.
He pointed to cooperation between Jordan and France in various military fields, and cooperation to enhance Jordan’s ability to fight terrorism, as this issue is a priority for both countries.
