Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, said Jordan is looking forward to benefitting from the various forms of sovereign and non-sovereign funding instruments and technical assistance offered by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
During a meeting with an AIIB’s delegation headed by Vice President for Policy and Strategy, Joachim von Amsberg, Fakhoury said Jordan hopes that such tools help it in financing and implementing public-private partnership projects and in the green infrastructure, water, transportation, renewable energy and urban and municipal services sectors.
The minister briefed the delegation on burdens borne by Jordan as a result of the regional situation, which resulted in a huge influx of Syrian refugees, which requires launching more infrastructure projects in the Kingdom.
The AIIB delegation is visiting Jordan to hold meetings with actors, officials and other bodies related to infrastructure projects from the government and the private sectors as well as discussing cooperation on possible future financing of projects in the Kingdom.
