Israeli fanatics along with members of the ruling Likud party Thursday carried out several provocative tours of Al-Aqsa Mosque, an Islamic holy place in Jerusalem’s Old City, under heavy police protection following calls to hold Jewish rituals in the Mosque compound to celebrate the Jewish event, said witnesses. Israeli right wing groups called on their Jewish members to be on the yards of al-Aqsa Mosque to celebrate a Jewish event. In response, several Palestinian religious and nationalist institutions in Jerusalem called on Palestinians to intensify their presence in the mosque to make sure Israelis do not attempt to hold any prayer ritual or enter the built areas such as al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock. Three Palestinian worshipers were arrested while trying to prevent Israelis from holding prayer on the mosque yards.
