Iraqi police in Salaheddin province arrested late Saturday three officers, including the former Police Commander of Samara northern Iraq. According to security sources, police forces arrested the former official Colonel Iyad al-Samara’e. The sources did not provide details on the reason for the arrests. In another incident, the Mahaweel district police force arrested on Sunday five of the most wanted on charges of acts of violence north of Hilla. (QNA) Separately, a former army officer was injured by gunmen downtown Kut, Wasit province, southeast of Baghdad on the same day. The gunmen, traveling in a civilian car, opened fire towards the officer in the former army captain in the Damok area in the city of Kut, wounding him seriously, security sources said.
