Illegal use of disabled parking spaces were down by half in the emirate last month, according to police.
Colonel Abdullah Mubarak bin Amir, director general of Central Operations at Sharjah Police, attributed the drop to the public heeding the "don’t take my right" campaign, which was implemented by Sharjah Police and Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services.
Police in the emirate are keen to engage disabled drivers in the campaign, and many have been joining the Traffic Department to distribute brochures at shopping malls as well as attend lectures in schools and colleges.
