Egypt allowed on Thursday heavy machinery and equipment to be delivered to the Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Gaza via the Rafah crossing border. Gaza government said - in a statement on Thursday that these heavy equipment entered the sector for the first time since the Israeli blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip more than six years ago. Palestinian sources told the Middle East News Agency (MENA) that this equipment will contribute to the Qatar-fund reconstruction operations in the Palestinian enclave. Qatari Ambassador Mohammed al-Emadi who chairs the Qatari committee for the reconstruction of Gaza, announced two days ago that Egypt has approved the entry of the machinery and equipment shipment. Qatar has pledged a grant worth $407 million to finance reconstruction projects in the Gaza Strip.
