The crescent was not sighted Thursday night

The moon sighting committee in Oman has announced the first day of Ramadan.

The Crescent Sighting Committee announced that May 27, 2017 (Saturday) will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan in Oman, Times of Oman reported.

Earlier on Thursday, Saudi Arabia said that the crescent was not sighted yesterday night, hence Ramadan will be on Saturday.

UAE's Moon-sighting Committee has gathered for the sighting of the moon and is yet to make an official announcement about Ramadan in the UAE.
