Arab League Secretary General Nabil El-Arabi held talks on Sunday with the Joint UN-Arab Special Representative for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi, who is currently visiting Cairo, on the latest developments of the Syrian crisis and the possible efforts to resolve it. Brahimi briefed El-Arabi on results of his recent visits to a number of Arab and foreign countries in order to push the process of finding a solution for the Syrian crisis, an Arab League official source said. The Arab League has recently welcomed the proposal made by the President of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, Ahmad Moaz Al-Khatib, on the preparation of opening a dialogue with the Syrian government's representatives to agree on transitional arrangements. An extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council, at the level of permanent representatives, is scheduled to be held on Monday to discuss the report prepared by the League mission that recently visited Syria's neighboring countries of Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon to assess the humanitarian needs of the Syrian refugees there.
