Pilgrims throng Mount Mercy on the plains of Arafat in Makkah during the annual Haj pilgrimage

Egyptian pilgrims have successfully ascended Mount Arafat to perform hajj's cornerstone ritual, Executive chairman of Egyptian hajj mission Sayed Maher said on Sunday.

The operation room of the Egyptian hajj mission has received reports about the arrival of all buses carrying Egyptian pilgrims to Arafat, Maher told MENA correspondent.

Doctors affiliated with the Egyptian Interior Ministry's medical services sector, in coordination with the medical mission and the Saudi Ministry of Health, helped sick pilgrims to ascend the holy mountain using ambulances to carry them, Maher pointed out.

Meanwhile, Maher thanked Saudi authorities for all facilities offered to the Egyptian mission.

For his part, Interior Minister Magdi Abdel Ghaffar closely followed up the ascending process of the Egyptian pilgrims to Mount Arafat through being in contact with the hajj mission to check on the conditions of the pilgrims and the success of the ascending plan.
