Egyptian authorities reopened on Wednesday the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Palestinian territories, south of the Gaza Strip, in both directions after the success of the Egyptian army in releasing its seven soldiers who were kidnapped last Thursday in north Sinai. Rafah crossing was closed for five consecutive days due to protest against the kidnapping of the seven soldiers.
