Disabled Egyptians seek to meet president

Dozens of disabled Egyptians protested for the sixth day Monday, asking President Mohamed Morsi to recognize their rights. Protesters demonstrating in front of the presidential palace rejected a chance to negotiate with the president's legal adviser, demanding a meeting with the president himself, al-Masry al-Youm reported. They are seeking the right to work the 5 percent of jobs that should be allocated to them. They also want housing and a pension of $245 a month for those unable to work. The protesters also want to be exempt from paying customs fees on their vehicles. Security officers beat them Sunday when the disabled individuals blocked a road to pressure authorities to act on their demands.
