Defendants in Cairo church blast remanded in custody for more 15 day

A Cairo prosecutor ordered on Sunday remanding four defendants, who are involved in planning for El Boutrosiya Coptic Orthodox Church, into custody for more 15 days pending investigations.

Investigations revealed that the defendants adopted takfiri thoughts and joined an illegal group.

The four defendants were also accused of possessing explosive charges and committing murders.

A total of 27 people were killed and scores others injured in an explosion that targeted the Boutrosiya Church which is adjacent to the St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbasiya in Cairo two weeks ago.
