The Dar Al Ber Society has signed an agreement with the Zulekha Healthcare Group in Sharjah and Dubai and Alexis Hospital in India to secure free treatment for indigent and low-income people.

The move, in line with the 'Year of Giving' initiative, is in observation to the concept of social responsibility, according to Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, executive director of the society.

"The Zulekha and Alexis hospitals shall provide free high-quality medical services for destitute and low-income patients with kidney failure and other diseases," he said.

As per the MoU signed by Al Falasi and Taher Shams, executive director of Zulekha Group, special discounts from 10 to 25 per cent shall be given to the patients referred by the Dar Al Ber Society, particularly those on dialysis sessions."

Dr Zulekha Iqbal Dawood, owner of the Zulekha Healthcare Group, said they are keen on cooperating with charity entities and civil society entities in the UAE. "We are passionate about reaching out to vulnerable patients and easing their suffering as directed by the UAE prudent leadership."

The association has also entered into an agreement with the Galinus Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Center Dubai to provide free consultations and discounts on services for referred vulnerable cases. As per the memorandum of understanding (MoU), Dar Al Ber will refer the medical reports of eligible patients to the Galinus Centre. "The society will pay part of the treatment fees after studying the applications received and therapy period."

Ismael Mohamed Al Naisar, of the Glinus Centre, said they will provide free rehabilitation consultations for patients referred by the Dar Al Ber society. "A 35 per cent discount on the treatment fees will be provided for eligible cases."
