Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Hesham bin Mohamed Al-Jowder

Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Hesham bin Mohamed Al-Jowder affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain has provided the region with a pioneering model in sponsoring the youth and sports movement through a number of operational steps which made the Bahraini youth a priority within their national action programme.

He stated that in the era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the youth sector witnessed a remarkable qualitative shift that made them the basis for sustainable development in the Kingdom amid the follow-up and attention by HRH Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

 

In a statement, issued on the occasion of the kick-off of the Khalid bin Hamad League for Youth Centres, People with Disabilities and Girls, HE the Minister further added that His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, had succeeded in implementing the leadership’s vision pertaining to Bahraini youth by transforming theoretical plans and programmes into reality to achieve the qualitative shift within the fields of youth and sports.

The minister stressed that HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, Honourary President of the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation took upon himself the task to improve the sports and youth movement in Bahrain in line with the vision of the wise leadership.

He pointed out that the league is part of the sporting and humanitarian initiatives of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for the youth, as His Highness believes that youth are more than ready to contribute in building the present and the future of Bahrain.

He hailed the initiative of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to involve unregistered national clubs in the Bahrain Football Association in the league, stating that they would be greatly benefited from their participation.

He added that the organisation of a league for the disabled people contributes to shed light on the sport for people with special needs and gives their players an opportunity to compete in their favourite game in a real competitive environment.

He pointed out that that the organisation of a league for girls for the first time confirms the interest of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa in the development and improvement of girls’ sports and work to create an ideal environment.
